Rekey & Master Key Systems

Same lock, new keys, so the old keys stop working, and buildings get one master key for the doors you pick.

What is a rekey?

A rekey keeps your lock on the door and changes the pins inside the cylinder. You get new keys, and the old keys no longer open the door. It is the simple choice when you move in, lose a key, or a roommate moves out.

When do people call us for this?

How does a master key system work?

Each door has its own key, and one master key opens all of them, or only the ones you pick. Landlords, supers, and business owners use it so they can carry one key instead of a full ring. We plan the system with you and write down who should have which key.

How do I get started?

Call us, or text photos of the locks. We give you a written quote before any work starts.

How does the visit go?

We come out with the parts your call and your photo point to. Before we touch anything, we show you what is worn or broken and what we plan to do. When the work is done, we test every lock and key with you before we leave.

Questions we get

Should I rekey or replace the lock?

If the lock works well, a rekey is usually enough. If it is worn or broken, we replace it. We tell you which one fits your door before we start.

Can you rekey a lock on a master key system?

Yes. We change the apartment key and keep the master working, so the building stays on one system.
